One golf playoff, two winners
ALBANY - When the Price Chopper Tour Championship was over, Cindy LaCrosse and Jennifer Song hugged, an 18th-hole custom on the Futures Golf Tour.
LaCrosse, already established as the Futures' top money leader, earned her third tour victory of the season Sunday at Capital Hills, two-putting for par on the first playoff hole to beat Song.
Song took home $12,000, enough to jump from fourth to third on the tour's money list.
By finishing in the top five in tour earnings, both have received LPGA exempt status for next season.
Song, a 20-year-old who was born in Ann Arbor, Mich., but grew up in South Korea, earned Rookie of the Year laurels.
Song actually earned more per tournament ($7,042) than LaCrosse ($6,305) but waited until after this year's Curtis Cup, a biennial competition matching the U.S. against a team from Great Britain and Ireland, to turn pro.
None of the five players who began the week in the top five of the Futures money list was dislodged.
