As you can see we have been busy cutting back on a lot of the alien bushes around the course. On the left side of the 6th green we built a Golf Cart path about 12 years ago but over the years it got completely overgrown. We have cleared this bush back so we can now divert traffic that way which enables us to allow the right hand side to recover. On the right hand side of the 17th Tee Box, Arno has removed small part of the bush to enable him to make room for a chipping and putting  green. Arno has also upgraded the access road to the Driving Range for which we thank him immensely.

Our Main Water Dam we are in the process of cleaning out all the sludge that has built up over the years and when completed it will afford us another 5 or 6 days of water to put on the course when needed.

I trust you all read last Month’s Report especially our wish list of Projects that we have planned.

Update on Progress :

  • Golf Cart Path around 16th Green – hoping to begin 1st or 2nd week in July.
  • Cleaning of water body on 1st hole done.
  • Refurbishment of 10th half way house – busy finalizing plans.
  • Installation of new filtration system – pipework fabrication ready to start installation approx 2nd week in July.
  • Trimming and cutting back of Alien Bushes – complete. There will however still be more cutting back where necessary for the improvement of our Course.
  • Installation of new protection fence on the 14th Tee Box – on closer inspection we decided that it was in reasonably good condition and that a coat of paint would make it look good and also a big saving on spend. How many of you noticed this fence was painted?
  • Building of ablution block – hoping to get drawings done in the next month so that we can submit to Counsel for approval.
  • Men’s locker room re-upholstering of furniture – should be completed by end July.

Milnerton Golf Club hosted the AGM for Western Province this month and we congratulate Ryan Stopford for being newly elected onto the WP Committee.

Mark Schacht, our Manager, attended his son Bernhard’s wedding in Italy. Congratulations and we trust you all had a great and relaxing time. Sorry for all the messages!!

Thought for the month: by Michael Jordan

Obstacles don’t have to stop you.  If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

Happy Golfing

Monthly Golf Fixtures & Results

Lady Captain’s Corner

June has been somewhat of a jam-packed Month full of various activities  which is very unusual for Mid Winter.

Six of our Ladies completed the WP Wilkensen Greensomes held at Atlantic Beach. Participation is the key criteria – winning takes secondary. In other words we didn’t achieve any results but not for a lack of trying.

We held a Joyful Tea for the Senior Seniors. This was delightfully enjoyed by everyone. The purpose was to give these Ladies the opportunity to meet up together as they seldom, if ever, see each other and to show appreciation for what they have done for the Ladies Division in the past.

Our Match Play is well on its way. Congrats to those who have progressed to next round. These need to be played by the end of July. All the very best to those competing. Remember to arrange with your opponent to play! You play off 100% Course Handicap.

Tuesday 25th June we held a combined Tuesday Competition.  The Tuesday School of Men and the Ladies Division of a Tuesday. We played Alliance with 3 scores to count. We had a whopping 24 Ladies and 24 Men. This was a fun filled day with loads of prizes and NTP’s not forgetting the Froggie hole which wasn’t won by me, but by Steven Du. The winners of the day were David Du, Lorette Heggie, Sylvia Crotz & Rodney Viljoen.

Congratulations go out to Lorette Hegie and Ryan Stopford from Milnerton who were elected onto the WP Committee.

A huge thank you to Denise Whiffler for sprucing our Ladies Cloak Room to be best of our financial means for now. We do appreciate it very much, Denise and wow it is looking amazing. Any donations for further sprucing will be gladly appreciated.

Welcome to our latest New Lady Members Isabella Heber and Riana Noort. We hope to have the two of you join us on a Tuesday soon.

Our Milnerton Open will be held on Thursday 19th September 2024. We are yet again being generously sponsored by Pam Golding Properties this year. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Emarie and her Team for this generous offer. The Competition this year will be Four Ball Betterball. Entries will open by end July.

League for July the 5th Team have a Bye and the 1st Team will be playing at Steenberg. Atella Hefer Sonja Van Heerden Roz Howard & Nadya Ritschewald will be playing Foursomes. We wish you all the best. The 5th Team – there will be a normal Tuesday Ladies field. Check out the Tuesday WhatsApp group for details.

30th July both Teams will be playing – this is to catch up on the match we did not play in April. 1st Team will play at Westlake and the 5th Team will be playing at Strand. Details will be sent out Mid July on the League What’sApp group. We  are not performing too well in League this year and there is not much time to try and catch up as this will be the last game for the 5th Team and 1st Team last game is 13 Aug.

So 1st – lets try win some of these last 3 games to play!! I will be away from the 7th July to 17th July – very Blessed to be spending the Twins 40th Birthday on the 12th July in Mauritius as a family.

Take Care everyone, and please be reminded that any suggestions you have – pop us an email or what’s app.

Lady Captain
