Bryson DeChambeau intervened after an adult caught a ball that was meant for a young golf fan at the PGA Championship

0 7

Bryson DeChambeau came up just short in his pursuit of his second major championship on Sunday, watching as Xander Schauffele made the go-ahead birdie putt on 18.

But even in the narrow defeat, he managed to impress golf fans with a couple classy moments. Shortly after Schauffele’s win, DeChambeau made a point to leave the practice range and personally congratulate Schauffele on the PGA Championship win.

Earlier in the day, though, DeChambeau intervened after he witnessed an adult fan take a ball that he had tossed to a kid. This was the scene after hole No. 9 at Valhalla Golf Club.

DeChambeau tossed the ball to a young fan — that was clear. But once an adult intercepted the toss and ran away, DeChambeau stopped his walk to No. 10 and made sure the adult gave the ball back to the kid.

Judging by the fact that the adult ran all the way to a back road, he knew that he messed up. DeChambeau wasn’t having any of that and shouted at the fan until the ball was returned to the young fan as intended.

Golf fans also appreciated how DeChambeau looked out for the kid in that exchange. He turned what could have been a massive disappointment into a great memory for that child.
