Captains Corner – May 2022
The month of May has almost reached it’s end and anyone who braved the weather over the weekend of the 21st will definitely tell you that winter is here. The weather was not golf friendly, but we still had some golfers out there and we still did pretty well for the weekend.
During the month we celebrated Mother’s Day and each female golfer received a jar of sweets on that weekend. We all know how important you ladies are for your children and we appreciate everything you do for them.
A special word of congratulations goes to Calvin Caldeira, our Golf Director, who was selected to represent the PGA of SA against a number of countries during the month of August.
During the month we also had a team of ten golfers from Germiston Golf Club who visited us and played against our team. Unfortunately, they had a tough time on our course and Krugersdorp prevailed with a score of 9-1. Thanks to Andy Green for the trophy he donated for the competition. We will be sending a team out to Germiston during the month of September to defend our title. The trophy was appropriately named the Far East/ Wild West Trophy.
Leagues:
The Handicap league side is having a tough time this season but let’s hope that they can pull it together going forward. At the moment they are lying 8th in the league.
Our Ladies Sunday league side is in fourth position and will also have to do something spectacular going forward if they want to be in the playoffs.
The Ladies weekday league side is doing exceptionally well and are in top position in their league. Keep it up girls, Well done so far.
We have two Midam sides in the leagues this year and our A side is in fourth position in the A-Division. The B side plays in the D Division and they are in joint first position – awesome.
