The Solheim Cup is never short of controversy and, on the very first day, we saw an incident that sent the Twittersphere into a near meltdown.
With Korda’s putt hanging on the lip for eagle, Madelene Sagstrom picked up the ball and passed it back to her.
In doing so she broke rule 13.3a; therefore, team USA went on to win the hole and then the match by 1-up, with the rules decision proving the deciding factor.

Words fail me. Neither Korda nor Ewing did anything to stop Sagstrom picking up their ball, which was patently not moving. Americans must be desperate.

Well I wouldn’t be buying them a pint in the clubhouse after the fiddle at Worksop if they tried that one on me! The rules might have been applied correctly but I’m not sure it falls in line with the spirit of the game.

Surely the 10-second rule can only apply when a ball is overhanging the hole and, sorry, that was clearly not the case with Nelly Korda's ball. Bad call by the rules official, in my opinion

I respect the hell out of Nelly & Ally.
But you concede the next hole. It wasn’t the rules official’s fault. She did her job.
One of the beauties of match play is u can correct an error in how the rules are written.
