Owen Hultman wrapped up a strong freshman season by finishing 62nd at the 2021 NAIA Men's Golf Championships played at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

Hultman, the only underclassmen playing in St. Ambrose's top five, started the four-round national tournament with back-to-back rounds of 74 Tuesday and Wednesday. His 148 put him in a tie for 33rd place, placing him inside the top 40 to make the cut.

The Belvidere, Ill., native closed the event with consecutive rounds of 80 to finish with a 308.

Hultman was the lone Bee remaining after St. Ambrose struggled in Wednesday's round.

After sitting in a tie for 16th after firing a combined 308 in the tournament's first round Tuesday, SAU slipped with a second-round 314 for a 622 total. That left the team in 27th place, outside of the top 17 which made the cut to advance to the final two rounds.

Jared Tigges was the next closest Bee to the cutline, ending in a tie for 65th after a two-round 153 (78-75).

Mick Haverland carded an opening-round 73 to sit in a tie for 16th place, but an 84 Wednesday dropped him outside the top 100 with a 157.

McGwire Eden shot a 164 (83-81) and Eric Spurgetis finished with a 174 (88-86).

Dalton State (302-288-284-297=1171) won the team championship while Morningside's Corey Matthey (69-68-70-73) was the individual medalist with a 4-under 280.

St. Ambrose, the host school of this event seven times since 2009, will also host the 2022 Championships next year.
