[Men's Golf] Men's Golf Takes Second at Doane Invite
Doane Men's Golf hosted the Doane Spring Invitational on Friday and Saturday, playing two courses over the two rounds of action. On Friday, the competition took place at Woodland Hills GC in Eagle, Neb. The teams made their way to Crete on Saturday to play at College Heights CC.
Doane had two teams in the meet with the varsity team placing second with a 627 and the "B" team placing fourth with a 637. Four players posted Top 10 finishes in the meet.
On the varsity squad, Conor Schubring (JR/St. Louis Park, Minn.) and Ryan Weiss (FR/Franklin, Neb.) tied for 6th with scores of 154. Micah Ramirez (JR/Loveland, Colo.) placed 11th with a 157 and Blake Anderson was 20th with a 162. Ty Crandon (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) tied for 40th with a 171.
The "B" squad was led by Josh Spomer (SO/Lincoln, Neb.)'s 4th place finish and score of 153. Karsten Kern (FR/Sioux Falls, S.D.) tied for 8th with a 155. Hayden Fry (SR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished with a 165 to tie for 27th and Riley Podliska (SO/Lincoln, Neb.) was 35th with a 170. Garrett Dalton (FR/Parker, Colo.) shot a 78 on the first day of action which figured into the team's scoring on Friday.
Playing under individual status, Brett Leighty (FR/Omaha, Neb.) was 40th with 171 and Riley Mitchell (SO/Fort Calhoun, Neb.) was 50th with a 177. Isaac Brown (FR/Omaha, Neb.) posted a 183 to place 60th and Sam Banzhaf was 63rd with a 196.
Southeast CC was the team champion with a 614 team score. Geronimo Narizzano (SECC) and Drew D'Ercole (Concordia) tied for the low score with a 146.
