World Handicap System
Good Evening Members,
Please see below club information on the new world handicap system.
On Monday 2nd November all members will be reissued a new handicap index.
On Monday at 4pm the new Golf Ireland website will launch where you can log in and see your new handicap index. The web address is www.golfireland.ie. You can log in with your current GUI number and PIN on the back of your GUI card. We imagine the site will receive a lot of traffic on Monday and may crash as every golfer in Ireland will be trying to log in so please be patient. If you do not have your GUI card you may need to contact the club to order a new one.
PLEASE NOTE, THE NEW HANDICAP INDEX GIVEN WILL ONLY COME INTO PLAY AT SILVERWOOD WHEN OUR QUALIFING SEASON STARTS NEXT YEAR. WE WILL CONTINUE TO PLAY OFF THE HANDICAP WE FINISHED THE SEASON ON. THE REASON FOR THIS IS BECAUSE OUR WINTER COMPETITIONS ARE NON QUALIFYING AND WE DONT PLAY OFF AN OFFICIALLY MEASURED COURSE.
YOU WILL USE YOUR NEW HANDICAP IF YOU PLAY ANY AWAY QUALAFYING OPENS AT OTHER COURSES STARTING MONDAY 2ND NOVEMBER.
There are hundreds of articles & videos online on golfnet.ie, howdidido.co.uk and GUI social media explaining all the ins and outs of how the new handicap system works. It is vital that you have some form of understanding of this before our season starts next year or you play any open competitions in the near future. There are also links attached to the bottom of this email that are very useful. If you are unhappy with your new handicap you may lodge an appeal with the match and handicap secretary where we will consider the options.
Please note the computer system has worked out every members new handicap so to this point we have had no input.
