RYDER CUP AND SOLHEIM CUP STYLE EVENTS

The Morell Cup

The Morell cup is an annual event between Palmerstown GC and Naas GC. It is based on a Ryder cup

style format. 12 matches . Last year the event was won by Palmerstown at home and so they hold

the Morell Cup. The team this year will be doing their utmost to take that from them on home soil.

Teams consists of 12 players with 8 chosen from class categories from the golfer of the year table. 2

best from each category. 4 captains picks .

It will be on this year in Naas on the morning of 21st September, followed by:

The Lily Cup

This September 21st at 2pm, will see the beginning of a very exciting new competition which will

become an annual event, promoting Ladies Golf and the relationship between ourselves and our

neighbours Craddockstown Golf Club.

This will be a Solheim Cup styled event, played in a spirit of competitive friendship.

Each club will field a team of 14 Ladies who will compete for their club over 10 matches.

These matches will be 2 matches of Straight Foursomes, 2 matches of 2 Ball Better Ball and 6 Singles

matches.

The Naas team has been selected as follows:

The top 12 ladies in the Golfer of the Year standings after the GOY competition on September 10th.

The Lady Captain and Vice- Captain are an automatic pick for the team.
