[Men's Golf] Men's Golf finishes sixth at Eagle Spring Classic

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Kansas Wesleyan men's golf team posted a sixth-place finish at the Eagle Spring Classic hosted by Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Monday and Tuesday at Hillcrest Country Club.

 

The Coyotes were tied for second after Monday's first round, carding a 307, but slipped back to sixth place after posting a 319 in the second round, finishing with a final score of 626. Wesleyan was just four shots away from third and six from second place.

 

Northwestern (Iowa) was the team champion of the event carding a 616 (304-312) to post a four-shot win in the tournament over Mid-America Christian which posted a 620. Columbia (Mo.) was third with a 622. Central Baptist (Ark.) and Sterling tied for fourth with a 625, followed by the Coyotes. Oklahoma Wesleyan was seventh, five shots behind the KWU. Doane was eighth with a 642, Bethany was ninth with a 656, Southwestern was tenth with a 662, Bethany's B team was 11th with a 683, Hastings was 12th with a 678, Bethel was 13th with a 697, and Oklahoma Panhandle State was 14th with a 799.

 

Ben Hadden (SR/Shawnee Mission, Kan.) (78-76) and Troy Watson (JR/Coffeyville, Kan.) (74-80) tied for eighth in the tournament with a 154. Coleman Houk (SR/Lawrence, Kan.) tied for 25th with a 159 (76-83), Logan Vacca (JR/Coffeyville, Kan.) was 39th with a 162 (82-80) and Austin Odom (JR/Sanger, Texas) tied for 45th with a 166 (79-87).

 

Northwestern's Austin Reitz led the 82 player field with a 2-over-par 146 (76-70).

 

Next up for Wesleyan is the First Leg of the KCAC Golf Championships next Monday and Tuesday at Crestview Country Club in Wichita.
