[Women's Golf] Strong Second Day Moves Women's Golf Up in GPAC
Doane Women's Golf wrapped up the fall portion of their schedule on Monday and Tuesday by competing in the first two rounds of the GPAC Championships. After a rough first day, the Tigers recovered with a strong second round to move up two spots in the team standings.
Doane sits in 9th overall with a two-round score of 723 (373-350). The Tigers vaulted past Saint Mary and Dordt on the second day. Morningside is the team leader with a score of 605. The tournament went from 12 teams to 11 after Hastings was unable to field a team score on Day 2 of the meet.
Sarah Vaughn (SR/Grand Island, Neb.) led the way for the Tigers with a two-round score of 172 (85-87). She is tied for 26th overall. Tressa Bull (FR/Burke, S.D.) posted a 173 (90-83) and is tied for 29th.
Margaret Elliott (SO/Omaha, Neb.) finished the first two rounds with a 187 (97-90) and is 43rd. Afton Mitchell (SO/Gering, Neb.) is 46th after posting a 191 (101-90). Stephanie Hoshor (JR/Murray, Neb.) sits 53rd with a 220 (111-109).
The Tigers will resume play in the spring. The schedule has not been announced at this time though the team usually returns to the course over Spring Break.
