[Men's Golf] ONU plays in NAIA Fall Preview at TPC at Deere Run
SILVIS, Ill. – In their final tournament of the fall season, the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers played against its stiffest competition of the season at the NAIA Fall Preview. The Tigers competed against 23 other teams at TPC at Deere Run, where the PGA's John Deere Classic is hosted. ONU finished day one in 24th and were one stroke worse on day two, not allowing them to move up in the standings.
A total of 120 golfers played in the 36-hole, two-day event at the par-71, 6,538-yard course, TPC at Deere Run. ONU finished 24th overall with a team score of 673 (336-337, +105). William Penn University won the event shooting a 596 (303-293, +28). Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) finished second with a 600 (299-301, +32) and Morningside College (Iowa) came in third with a 601 (303-298, +33)
Justin Bowman (JR/Indianapolis, Ind.) led the way for the Tigers. He finished with a 164 (85-79, +22) and came in tied for 82nd. Jake Butterfield (SO/Horton, Mich.) shot a 166 (77-89, +24) to come in 94th. Zack Thorson (SR/Philo, Ill.) came in tied for 106th with a 172 (86-86, +30) alongside teammate Kyle Dwyer (SR/Bourbonnais, Ill.) finished who went (89-83, +30). Connor Vansteenburg (FR/Flint, Mich.) shot a 179 (88-91, +37) to finish 116th.
The Tigers will be back in action this spring.
