Figure skating a highlight on day 14 of Games

Pyeongchang, South Korea (dpa) - Olympic Athletes from Russia (OAR) were hoping to get a first gold medal on day 14 of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics on Friday, with teenagers Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva leading ahead of the free skate in women‘s figure skating.It was one of four medals events at the Games on a day which also sees the semi-finals of the men‘s ice-hockey competition.Medals were being fought for in the women‘s ski cross in freestyle skiing, the men‘s 100-metres in speed skating and the men‘s 4x7.5km relay in biathlon.In action elsewhere, Switzerland were to play Canada for bronze in men‘s curling, while hosts South Korea face Japan, and Sweden meet Britain in the women‘s semi-finals.In the men‘s ice-hockey, Czech Republic play OAR, and Canada take on Germany for a place in the final.
