REAL MADRID are closing in on a sensational double swoop for Paul Pogba and Erling Haaland, according to reports in Spain.

Manchester United midfielder Pogba, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season.

The 2018 World Cup winner is able to negotiate pre-contract terms with other clubs from January 1.

Meanwhile, Haaland, 21, is believed to have an agreement in place with Real Madrid to join when his £63million release clause comes into effect in the summer.

Both players are represented by super-agent Mino Raiola.

Real Madrid had feared they would face competition to sign the duo from Barcelona, thanks to the Nou Camp giants’ strong relationship with the agent.

But with Barca in disarray – both on the pitch and financially – AS report Los Blancos are now firmly in the driving seat to sign Pogba and Haaland.

Pogba is likely to be available on a free transfer on July 1 and is set to kick off talks with foreign clubs in January.

Real Madrid are hoping to beat their rivals to the Frenchman, seeing a free transfer as a major coup for them.

And Bernabeu president Florentino Perez could see his dream of partnering Kylian Mbappe and Haaland together become a reality.

Mbappe, 22, has all-but confirmed he will leave Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer next summer.

A host of clubs are set to swoop for the France whiz, but with the forward being a boyhood Real fan, he’s expected to move to the Spanish capital.

With Pogba and Mbappe costing nothing up front – with only their sky-high wages to concern themselves with – Los Blancos should be in a strong position to trigger Haaland’s £63m release clause.

It’s long been suggested Haaland and his team inserted the ‘Real Madrid clause’ in his current Borussia Dortmund contract to make the move to Spain in 2022.

And now, as 2022 approaches, the mad scramble is set to ensue.
