Barcelona star Lionel Messi has reportedly claimed that he will be out of action from international duty for the rest of 2018.

He is now on the brink of quitting the national team after Argentina were defeated in the knock out stages at the 2018 FIFA World Cup by France.

Lionel Messi is said to be considering his future playing for his nation with the 31-year-old keeping a close eye on who the Argentine FA pick as their new manager.

And according to the report by TNT Sports via Mundo Deportivo, the five time Ballon d'Or winner is no longer interested in playing for the national team in 2018.

He has played 128 games netting 65 goals for his country and helped them win an Olympic Gold medal in 2008 where they beat Nigeria in the final.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Argentina international Lionel Messi returned to Barcelona after crashing out with his national team from the 2018 World Cup in Russia losing against eventual champions France.

In a video twitted by ESPN, Lionel Messi arrived Barcelona airport with a frown face and ignored all the reporters who have been waiting for his arrival. He walked straight into a parked jeep where his wife has been waiting for her to take him home.
