Kenyan referee Aden Marwa who was among the officials named to officiate in the 2018 FIFA World Cup has been implicated in a bribery scandal seven days to the championship.

The referee was alleged to have received a paltry sum in bribe and however forfeited at least Sh2.5 million for appearing at the World Cup.

Aden Marwa is said to be among the referees caught on camera receiving cash bribes in an investigative report by Ghanaian reporter Anas Aremeyaw.

The journalist was said to have approached referee Aden Marwa while posing as a Ghanaian football official during the last African Nation Championship (CHAN).

Aden Marwa first featured in the 2011 Fifa U-17 World Cup and was among the only four other referees picked from Africa to officiate in the 2018 World Cup that is set to kick-off on June 14 to July 15.

The 41-year-old referee is also said to be a Mathematics and Chemistry teacher at Komotobo Secondary school in Migori County according to the report by Goal.

FIFA and CAF are not taking the issue of bribery with levity as they have warned officials to stay away from the act.
