Premier league 2

0 3
Another day, another article talking about mammoth losses for championship clubs and the efl as a whole.

I love the pyramid but isn’t it about time that we had another shake up of the English football league?

The gap between the prem and the champ is far too big now and subsidising relegated clubs with parachute payments is skewing the competition in both of the leagues (this year being a minor exception but u still expect 2 of the 3 who went up to go down and vice versa to go up)

With ourselves and Wrexham in the championship now is the time for a break away in my opinion, I’m not saying we should scrap promotion or relegation as it is, they should remain exactly as but the championship could command a huge tv deal in its own right now and could be a Guinea pig for a streaming service or the Netflix of football.

I dont like the idea of a football regulator as football is about the only industry in this country that has grown over the last 30 years any government will just put blockers in place for any further growth and I don’t like the idea of efl clubs skimming off the top of the prems financial wealth as it creates an environment where clubs in the lower levels will be expected to suck up any changes that negatively impacts them and told not to be so ungrateful.

I firmly believe the expansion of the play offs is in the hope that it will make clubs think twice about a breakaway but I think it should happen sooner rather than later.
