Bay suffer fourth defeat to Cofis
COLWYN BAY were beaten for the fourth time this season by Caernarfon Town as two second half goals gave the Cofis a 2-0 Good Friday victory in front of and all-ticket Blue Turtle Arena crowd of 2,357.
That was the highest Cymru Premier attendance in 14 years and the fifth highest ever.
The match result, however, means the Seagulls lost their top three spot to Barry Town who were 2-0 away winners at Penybont.
Colwyn Bay had their chances, but once again struggled to get their finishing efforts on target.
Lewis Sirrell had a good chance early on but fired a volley wide from inside the area and Aeron Edwards was put clean through on goal only to slice his shot wide of the post just before half-time.
Alex Brown had to make some big saves from Zack Clarke (twice) and Adrian Cieslewicz to keep his side on level terms, while Sol Forde cleared another effort off the line.
Caernarfon took the lead on 57 minutes when a cross from Ryan Sears was deflected into is own net off Ryan Astles and 13 minutes later Zack Clarke doubled the lead with a shot from the edge of the area which squirmed under the body of the diving Alex Brown.
That was tough on Alex who otherwise had an outstanding game in goal for the Bay and he went on to make another two great saves to prevent Caernarfon increasing their lead.
Late in the game Sol Forde saw a header go wide off the post, while Jordan Davies was also off target with a shot on the turn and Nathan Peate had a header turned for a corner by Cofis keeper Connor Roberts.
