Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane set to return from injury as Al Nassr chase SPL title

Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane are making their return from injury for Al Nassr to help the team chase the Saudi Pro League title.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane have both recovered from their respective injuries and rejoined Al Nassr for training. With the March international break behind them, the two stars will be looking to fuel their side’s push for the 2025-26 Saudi Pro League title.

Al Nassr face Al Najma on Friday in Matchday 27 of the SPL at Al Awwal Park, with Ronaldo’s side heavy favorites for the fixture. The visitors sit rock bottom of the league with just one win, five draws and 20 defeats this campaign, currently in the midst of a five-game losing streak.

In his pre-match press conference, head coach Jorge Jesus confirmed the return of both stars: “We have a training session today, and Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane are expected to return. Mohamed Simakan’s injury is minor and he will train with us, while Kingsley Coman is feeling fatigued and we will assess him in today’s training.

Both players have been included in the squad for Friday’s match. In Ronaldo’s case, it will be his first appearance since suffering a hamstring injury on February 28 against Al Fayha, a setback that kept him out of Al Nassr’s last three matches as well as Portugal’s two friendlies during the March window.

Mane’s situation follows a similar pattern. The winger picked up an ankle injury in early March that ruled him out of Al Nassr’s last two games and forced him to miss Senegal’s international fixtures, but both stars are now back in contention and expected to feature in the starting lineup.

Al Nassr return to SPL title chase

With the international break over, domestic leagues will resume and run through to their conclusion ahead of the 2026 World Cup. For Al Nassr, the final day of the SPL season falls on May 21 against Damac FC, with the league title firmly in their sights.

Al Nassr currently sit top of the SPL with 67 points from 26 games, holding a three-point cushion over closest rivals Al Hilal, with a potentially decisive six-pointer between the two sides scheduled for May 7. With Ronaldo back in the fold, both the star and the club will be looking to end a long wait for silverware and claim the league title for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
