Arsenal legend reveals why he is genuinely ‘sad’ to see Tottenham fighting relegation

0 1

Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira is not in any doubt regarding why Tottenham Hotspur find themselves in such a shocking situation.

For a club of Tottenham’s resources, being involved in a relegation battle is almost unthinkable, with the Lilywhites regularly being in and around the top six for the last two decades.

However, the North Londoners now find themselves in a situation where relegation to the second tier for the first time in nearly half a century is a distinct possibility.

Some pundits have even claimed that Spurs are on the verge of a catastrophe, and one former Premier League manager is clear about why the club finds itself in this current situation.

Patrick Vieira claims Tottenham have lacked direction

Spurs remain one of the most valuable football clubs in the world, but despite all their resources, they now find themselves on the brink of disaster.

Vieira believes that the lack of a clear direction or structure at Tottenham Hotspur has led them to this situation.

When asked about Spurs’ current predicament, the Arsenal legend told Sky Sports: “It is sad, of course, we’re talking about one of the greatest clubs in London and the Premier League. But in the last couple of years, it is a club that has spent a lot of money, with no structure, no direction, but with quality players.

“That means if you don’t have a proper structure or direction, you can spend as much money as you want, but it won’t bring you success. Trying to understand where they want to go is difficult to explain.”

Spurs may be ready to rip things up and start again this summer

Since Mauricio Pochettino’s exit in 2019, the Lilywhites have constantly pressed the reset button and have often oscillated between completely different styles of managers.

They may do that once more this summer after sacking Thomas Frank just eight months at the helm.

Reports indicate that Tottenham are about to undertake yet another massive ‘rebuild’ of the squad this summer, and that is a term that Spurs fans may be tired of by now.
