Dalot names one Man Utd star who 'never hides', INEOS need him

0 5

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has lavished praise on club captain Bruno Fernandes.

Dalot was speaking to the media after a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday.

He said (via Manchesterworld.uk): “The most difficult thing in football is for you to be consistent during the whole season, whether you’re going to have ups and downs, but he’s always a player and person who shows up all the time and he never hides, so I think that’s what this club needs.”

The 26-year-old could not have been more accurate in his assessment.

Fernandes has consistently represented Man United with passion, courage and unwavering commitment.

Remarkably, since arriving at Old Trafford, the lowest number of goals Fernandes has scored in a single season is 10.

Even more impressively, his lowest assist tally for a full season stands at 13, which is a return many players fail to reach even at the peak of their careers.

While United have endured turbulence over the past decade, Fernandes has remained a rare constant and a beacon of quality.

Dalot also emphasised just how influential his captain is during matches.

He said: “It’s important because it keeps you alive during the game at every moment. He’s a player who can read the game really well and can read pretty much all the positions on the pitch.

“So he always likes to guide you on that. And if he has something that he believes that he can help you with, he will say it no problem.”

Fernandes has frequently found himself scrutinised for his leadership style.

At 31, he wears his heart on his sleeve, demanding the highest standards not only from himself but from everyone around him.

His animated gestures when performances dip are not signs of weakness, but reflections of a burning desire to win.

Fernandes is widely regarded as one of the most intelligent footballers in the modern game.

Without elite footballing intelligence and a relentless drive for self-improvement, he would never have become just the third player in United’s history to register 100 goals and 100 assists.

Only Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney share that extraordinary milestone. Fernandes is United royalty, and his teammates know it as well.
