Liverpool lining up move for Rodrygo as Mohamed Salah’s long-term replacement

0 14

Liverpool are reportedly keeping close tabs on Real Madrid winger Rodrygo as they plan for life after Mohamed Salah, according to transfer journalist Ekrem Konur.

Why Rodrygo’s Future at Madrid Looks Uncertain

The Brazilian’s position at the Bernabéu has become increasingly precarious. Under both Xabi Alonso and current interim boss Álvaro Arbeloa, Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappé have been the preferred attacking pair — leaving Rodrygo on the fringes. A 32-game scoring drought did little to help his cause, though he’s since found form with five goals and six assists across all competitions, including a memorable strike against Manchester City in the Champions League.

Liverpool’s Audacious Transfer Plan

With Salah’s departure widely anticipated, the Reds have identified the 25-year-old as his natural successor on the right wing. On paper, it’s a genuinely exciting fit. Rodrygo brings 128 career goal contributions, a winner’s mentality, and a trophy cabinet that includes two Champions League titles, three LaLiga crowns, and a FIFA Club World Cup.

The Obstacles Standing in Liverpool’s Way

It won’t be straightforward. Madrid are unlikely to sell cheaply — Rodrygo’s Transfermarkt valuation sits at £52 million, but the asking price could be significantly higher. Liverpool will also face stiff competition from Inter Milan, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Al-Hilal.

Arne Slot’s side need a world-class operator to fill Salah’s boots. Rodrygo might just be that player — if they can get the deal done.
