Tottenham have to battle Inter Milan and Arsenal for six-time Bundesliga champ

0 0

Tottenham are set for fresh competition in the race for a high-profile Bayern Munich midfielder, with Arsenal and Inter Milan circling ahead of the summer window.

Tottenham Hotspur’s winter activity saw them secure the signing of just Conor Gallagher and full-back Souza, a move that was far from welcomed by fans of the north London club.

But there were rumours that Spurs were in the race for an additional midfielder, with Bayern Munich man Leon Goretzka a player Tottenham explored a move for in January.

However, the midfielder, whose contract expires at the end of the season, gave Bayern Munich his word and promised to see the campaign out.

Tottenham transfers: Leon Goretzka race intensifies with Arsenal and Inter Milan interest

Goretzka will not extend his stay in Munich and is expected to become a free agent this summer, a situation that has sparked interest from a host of clubs, including Spurs, who are still keen on signing the German international.

Arsenal are also in the race for Goretzka, and both north London clubs have long been expected to battle for his signature.

CFC Bayern are now reporting that further competition is emerging, with Inter Milan entering the running for the midfielder’s signature.

The Serie A side is reported to be planning a squad reshuffle following a disappointing Champions League campaign, and they have the Bayern midfielder as a midfield target.

Spurs face uphill battle for Leon Goretzka amid Champions League uncertainty

Goretzka is reported to be open to a move to the Premier League, which bodes well for Tottenham and Arsenal.

However, the midfielder will be hoping to join a side that can offer Champions League football, and that is where Tottenham may struggle.

That leaves Arsenal and Inter Milan as favourites for his signature, with both clubs currently able to offer him European football.
