Patriots Predicted To Sign Jaguars Pro Bowler In Free Agency

The New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl, and now they will need to focus on improving their team through free agency and the draft.

The Patriots spent big on defense last offseason, and they could look to do so once again. While the pass rush will be a focus, they could also be in the market for players at the second and third levels. ESPN’s Ben Solak predicted the Patriots would sign Devin Lloyd in free agency.

Lloyd just had the best season of his career. He had five interceptions, seven passes defended, a fumble recovery, a touchdown, 1.5 sacks and 81 tackles. He was named a Pro Bowler and a Second-Team All-Pro.

The Patriots already have Robert Spillane and Christian Elliss. However, Jack Gibbens is a restricted free agent and may need to be replaced. Lloyd would certainly be an upgrade, but he would likely step in as the team’s best linebacker.

Lloyd has spent all four years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was a first round pick in 2022, and is set up to cash in as a free agent.

In four years, he has nine interceptions, 3.5 sacks, 436 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss and 18 quarterback hits. He has played in 63 NFL games and would be a great addition to a defense that has already proven it’s good enough to get to the Super Bowl.

Loyd will not be cheap, however. Spotrac projects him to earn a three-year, $60 million deal in free agency. The Patriots should have room to spend, but it remains to be seen what positions they prioritize in free agency.
