Kendrick Perkins Makes Stance On Giannis-Wolves Trade Clear

Former Boston Celtics NBA champion Kendrick Perkins made his stance clear on a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo-Minnesota Timberwolves trade.

Giannis has been linked to the Wolves in recent days amid heavy trade buzz surrounding the Bucks star. Antetokounmpo is known to have an affinity for Minnesota’s star Anthony Edwards, and most fans and analysts agree that Giannis and Edwards would be a formidable duo.

Perkins certainly thinks so. He said on Monday that the Wolves should do everything in their power to get a deal done for Giannis before the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

Antetokounmpo is sidelined right now with a calf strain. Through 30 games played this season, the two-time MVP is averageing 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, shooting an impressive 64.5% from the field and 39.5% from three-point range.

His efficiency remains exceptional, with a true shooting percentage around 67.9%, and he continues to contribute defensively with 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks per contest.

Trade speculation swirls as the February 5 deadline approaches, with reports indicating interest from teams like the Knicks, Warriors, Heat, and Timberwolves, though Milwaukee has countered offers while evaluating options.

Career-wise, Antetokounmpo has established himself as one of the NBA’s all-time greats in his 12th season.

Drafted 15th overall in 2013, he has amassed over 21,000 points, nearly 9,000 rebounds, and more than 4,000 assists in regular-season play. His accolades include two MVP awards, a Defensive Player of the Year honor, a Finals MVP, and an NBA championship with Milwaukee in 2021. Named an All-Star starter for 2026 (his 10th selection) Giannis remains a force, blending athleticism, skill, and relentless drive.
