Man United officially confirm loan exit of striker who played under Erik ten Hag

0 0

Manchester United have confirmed the temporary departure of one of their strikers on deadline day.

The winter transfer deadline ends in less than two hours.

Just before the conclusion, Man United have officially confirmed that young striker Ethan Wheatley will spend the second half of the 2025–26 season on loan at Bradford City.

Wheatley was recalled from his loan spell at Northampton Town last month.

He enjoyed a successful spell, making 25 appearances for the League One side and bagging three goals and four assists.

The Red Devils recalled him as there was interest in his services from several clubs, and Bradford City have now officially won the race.

The Bantams are chasing back-to-back promotions, which would be a huge achievement for the English outfit.

Wheatley will be expected to hit the ground running and help Bradford push for automatic promotion with 18 games still left to play.

The 19-year-old is one of the highly rated academy stars, having already made four appearances for the United first team.

He made his senior debut in a home win over Sheffield United in April 2024 under former manager Erik ten Hag.

His most recent senior appearance for United came under caretaker manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Wheatley is contracted to United until 2028, with the club having an option to extend his stay by 12 months.

United are expected to announce more transfers shortly with Gabriele Biancheri, Sekou Kone, Jacob Devaney and James Scanlon linked with loan exits.

Harry Amass and Toby Collyer were already sent out on fresh loans last week.
