Supercomputer predicts where Tottenham will finish in Premier League after Champions League success

0 2

We take a look at whether Opta’s Supercomputer has revised its prediction on Tottenham’s Premier League prospects on the back of their Champions League heroics.

Just like last season, Spurs’ domestic and European form have extremely divergent so far this term.

Tottenham have eased into the round of 16 stage of the Champions League after securing a fourth-place finish in the league phase, which means that Spurs will have home advantage in the round of 16 and quarterfinal stage.

However, they are struggling to pick up results in the Premier League, currently sitting just eight points off the relegation places.

Tottenham fans will not like Opta’s Premier League prediction

Spurs’ impressive performances in Europe have done little to convince Opta’s Supercomputer that the Lilywhites will move up the Premier League table.

The data analysis platform predicts that Tottenham will finish in 14th place in the table, with an expected 47.46 points.

With some tough fixtures coming for the North Londoners over the next few weeks, they run the risk of getting sucked even closer to the relegation zone.

Spurs are far more likely to get relegated than finish in the top five

The website gives Tottenham just a 0.14 per cent chance of qualifying for the Champions League and a 1.4 per cent chance of being relegated.

That means that, according to their number crunching, Spurs are 10 times more likely to go down than they are to finish in the top five this season.

That certainly makes for sorry reading from Tottenham, and it appears that, like last season, the club may have to look towards Europe to salvage their campaign.
