Loan move collapses for 20yo Man Utd ace after injury setback, ruled out for four weeks

Manchester United defender Tyler Fredricson has been dealt a crushing setback that has stalled his momentum at a critical stage of his development.

According to journalist Simon Peach, Fredricson is set to stay at United this month after seeing a loan move scuppered by a calf issue.

Several Championship and Belgian Pro League clubs had registered interest in the centre-back, but he will now be sidelined for around four weeks.

Fredricson made his senior breakthrough last season under former manager Ruben Amorim, marking a significant milestone in his young career.

Amorim showed faith by handing him a start against Grimsby Town, though the 20-year-old endured a difficult outing against the fourth-division side.

He made another senior appearance as a late substitute in the 1-0 win over Newcastle United.

Despite frequent inclusion on the matchday bench, intense competition has limited his opportunities to gain meaningful minutes.

Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven currently sit ahead of him in the centre-back pecking order under head coach Michael Carrick.

With only 15 matches left in the campaign, the pathway to further first-team appearances was already extremely narrow.

This untimely injury has arrived at the worst possible moment and could cost Fredricson up to six months of valuable senior football.

The hope now is that he can recover quickly and at least rebuild momentum with consistent minutes for United’s under-21s.

Another academy star Rhys Bennett is already in talks to join Fleetwood Town before the upcoming transfer deadline.
