Titans Reportedly Set To Hire Robert Saleh As Next Head Coach

Another AFC head coaching vacancy has been filled, albeit not officially. Multiple NFL insiders, including ESPN’s Adam Schefter, are reporting that the Tennessee Titans and Robert Saleh are close to finalizing a deal that will make Saleh the franchise’s next head coach.

Saleh began his NFL coaching journey in 2005 as a defensive intern with the Houston Texans. He advanced through roles there, serving as defensive quality control coach from 2006 to 2008 and assistant linebackers coach from 2009 to 2010. In 2011, he joined the Seattle Seahawks as a defensive quality control coach until 2013, contributing to their championship defense. Saleh then moved to the Jacksonville Jaguars as linebackers coach from 2014 to 2016.

His breakthrough came as defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers from 2017 to 2020, leading a unit that propelled the team to a Super Bowl appearance in 2019. In 2021, he became head coach of the New York Jets, compiling a 20-36 record before his firing on October 8, 2024, after a 2-3 start. Mid-2024, he served as an offensive consultant for the Green Bay Packers.

Saleh returned to the 49ers as defensive coordinator in 2025, where his defense ranked 11th in points allowed despite injuries.
