Former Pro Bowler, Ex-Patriots Tackle Misses Texans Practice Due To Injury

The New England Patriots got great news on Thursday when Pro Bowl cornerback Christian Gonzalez was a full participant in practice.

The Houston Texans on the other hand, could be without Nico Collins for Sunday’s AFC Divisional Round matchup, as the Pro Bowl wide receiver missed his second straight practice due to a concussion.

Collins isn’t the only member of the Texans offense that is in danger of missing the playoff battle, as starting offensive tackle Trent Brown sat out his second consecutive session with an ankle injury.

“Houston #Texans Thursday Injury Report for the Divisional Round at the New England Patriots,” the Texans official account posted on X.

Brown had two stints with the Patriots earlier in his career, sandwiching a 2019 Pro Bowl campaign with the then-Oakland Raiders with both runs in New England.

The 32-year-old was part of the Patriots’ Super Bowl LIII-champion team before his two seasons with the Raiders.

Brown was reacquired by New England in a trade in March 2021, played three more years with the organization and signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in March 2024.

He played just three games with Cincinnati before suffering a season-ending torn patellar tendon.

Brown signed a one-year, $3 million deal with Houston last March and spent the summer on the Texans’ active/PUP list while rehabbing from his injury.

He was cut by Houston in late August but re-signed with the club’s practice squad the next day.

Brown joined the Texans active roster ahead of Week 5 and has started their last eight games at right tackle.
