Fabrizio Romano: Man United set for 'face-to-face' talks with 52yo manager today

0 1

Manchester United have taken a massive step closer to finalising their interim head coach for the remainder of the 2025–26 season.

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man United are set to hold face-to-face talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer today.

The club hierarchy are also scheduled to meet Michael Carrick, who has emerged as a credible alternative for the temporary role at Old Trafford.

United are not rushing a long-term decision, with a permanent managerial appointment expected only in June.

Solskjaer remains a deeply respected figure at the club and among supporters, having made 366 appearances during his playing career and etched his name into United folklore.

The Norwegian previously led United between December 2018 and November 2021, a period that restored belief after years of turbulence.

He was initially drafted in as a caretaker after the exit of Jose Mourinho.

The team flourished under his guidance and he was rightly rewarded with a full-time contract.

Solskjaer guided United to second and third-place finishes in the Premier League.

He also took the club to the Europa League final in 2021, only to suffer heartbreak in a penalty shootout defeat to Villarreal.

With familiarity, goodwill and unfinished business on his side, it now feels increasingly likely that the 52-year-old could be trusted to take charge once again.

Solskjaer has been out of work since being dismissed by Turkish giants Besiktas in August.

In the meantime, former United midfielder Darren Fletcher has been handed responsibility for today’s clash against Burnley as interim boss.

Jonny Evans has also been drafted into the coaching staff, adding experience and leadership alongside Fletcher on the touchline.
