Maidstone move for Muhammadu
The striker made a big impression during a loan spell two years ago, scoring seven goals as the Stones reached the National League South play-offs.
Muhammadu is no stranger to the division, having previously played for Havant & Waterlooville, where he scored 31 goals in 71 appearances before joining Maidstone on loan. He later signed for Worthing at the start of the 2024/25 season, netting 13 goals as the Rebels narrowly missed out on the league title by a single point and lost out to the Stones in the play-off eliminator.
The 28-year-old moved across the Irish Sea last summer to join League of Ireland Premier Division side Waterford. But home is where the heart is, and upon his return to England, he held talks with George Elokobi and agreed terms for this season and next.
George said: “I am delighted to bring Muhammadu back to Maidstone United Football Club. He is someone we have kept in contact with and have tried previously to bring back. On this occasion, everything has aligned, and we have secured a deal for the rest of this season and next.
“My thanks go to the owners for their backing and to Paul Beckett from Total Machining Solutions, who has generously offered sponsorship to help make Muhammadu’s return possible.”
Paul Beckett from Total Machining Solutions added: “We’re proud to be a major sponsor of Maidstone United, and that support goes far beyond a logo on the back of the shirts or the ad boards on the Town End stand.
“When the opportunity came up to help strengthen the squad mid-season, we couldn’t say no. We’re delighted to play our part in helping sign Muhammadu. Best of luck for the rest of the season, Muhammadu – we’re right behind you and the Stones.”
Muhammadu began his career in the youth ranks at Boreham Wood. His first taste of senior football came with Italian side L’Aquila in Serie D. After two years abroad, he returned to England and featured for Dulwich Hamlet and Kingstonian. But it was his move to Enfield Town that truly elevated his career. His 20 goals in 23 matches attracted interest from several league clubs, with Bolton Wanderers securing his signature. After a season with Wanderers, he returned to Enfield and impressed again with 35 goals in 43 appearances, earning a move to Havant & Waterlooville.
Welcome back, Muhammadu.
