Have Patriots Received Any Interview Requests For Coaches, Execs? Mike Vrabel Responds

Arguably no coaching staff in the National Football League has done a better job than Mike Vrabel and the Patriots this season. But it doesn’t appear like anyone is busting through the doors at One Patriots Place looking to interview Vrabel’s assistants.

Well, at least not yet.

“Not to my knowledge,” Vrabel responded at Gillette Stadium on Monday when asked if any teams had requested interviews with assistants or personnel executives, per a team-provided transcript.

Vrabel’s response came on “Black Monday” in the NFL, a day which tends to coincide with the firings of executives, coaches and assistants.

There are now six head coaching vacancies after the “Black Monday” firings of Jonathan Gannon (Cardinals), Pete Carroll (Raiders), Kevin Stefanski (Browns) and Raheem Morris (Falcons). That quartet joins previously-fired head coaches Brian Daboll (Giants) and Brian Callahan (Titans).

There’s still plenty of time for the Patriots to hear from those teams, or others. But with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels previously having flamed out in his two head coaching opportunities and defensive coordinator Terrell Williams having missed the majority of the season due to a prostate cancer diagnosis, there’s reason to believe Vrabel’s Patriots could keep the majority of their staff.
