Lakers Trade Rumor Shot Down By LeBron James’ Agent

With the NBA trade deadline looming on February 5, LeBron James is finding himself in whispered trade rumors, but how real are they?

At 41 years old, James isn’t what he once was, but he still contributes to winning and is capable of playing at an All-Star level.

The question of his fit alongside Luka Dončić persists, however, and many have speculated that the Los Angeles Lakers would be wise to trade James and dive fully into the Luka era, especially given the emergence of Austin Reaves.

The Golden State Warriors have been floated as a trade destination for James in recent months. Multiple reports suggested dating back to last season that Golden State’s front office has tried continually to pry LeBron away from LA and pair him with Stephen Curry.

While such a pairing would be amazing to witness, it doesn’t sound like it has any chance of happening.

LeBron’s agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, recently shot down the rumor during an episode of the Game Over with Max Kellerman and Rich Paul podcast.

“I don’t like to get into that,” Paul said of the LeBron-Warriors buzz. “It’s not going to happen. So why are we talking about things that are not going to happen?”

The Lakers entered Saturday with a 21-11 record. If things are more or less working for LA, why trade LeBron?

LeBron’s 23rd campaign began on a challenging note when sciatica sidelined him for the opening night loss to Golden State (the first season opener he ever missed) and kept him out for additional weeks. Upon returning, James has adapted his game, showing reduced usage in pick-and-roll sets while maintaining efficient production.

James is now averaging 20.9 points (50.8 percent FG), 6.5 assists, and 5.1 rebounds per game. His recent performances have been particularly strong, including a 31-point showing against the Memphis Grizzlies on January 2.
