Patriots’ Stefon Diggs Speaks For First Time Following Off-Field Allegations
New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs spoke to members of the media on Friday, marking the first time he answered questions since off-field allegations were levied against him earlier in the week.
Diggs opened his availability by apologizing for not being available to answer questions sooner, and gave one quick answer regarding the allegations before sharing that he would only be answering questions relating to football.
“It’s definitely an open case, so I can’t even say anything about it,” Diggs said, as transcribed by ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
Diggs, 30, is facing a felony criminal charge as a result of an alleged incident that occured between he and his private chef on Dec. 2, Boston 25 reported Tuesday. Diggs’ attorney requested to keep the details sealed (though they were eventually released) and stated that the veteran wide receiver had already tried to resolve the issue through financial means.
The Patriots released a statement saying they supported Diggs, who has categorically denied all accusations through his attorney.
