Four statistics clearly prove why Fernandes was the best midfielder in 2025, despite United enduring their worst-ever league campaign in history.

According to data shared by Squawka, Fernandes topped the charts for accurate final-third passes, chances created, successful through-balls and total assists.

No midfielder in England matched his all-round creative dominance.

Incredibly, Fernandes was also the only player across the top five leagues in Europe to create more than 100 chances during the 2025 calendar year.

The Portuguese magnifico played 655 final third passes, comfortably clear of Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes who managed 589.

Martinez Odegaard, Declan Rice and Enzo Fernandez rounded out the top five, but none came close to matching Fernandes’ output.

He created 103 chances, more than Mohamed Salah (86) and Enzo Fernandez (73).

His vision between the lines was just as devastating.

Fernandes finished the year with 19 successful through-balls, a figure that dwarfed Odegaard’s 12, the next best in the league.

That creative sharpness translated seamlessly into end product, with Fernandes registering 12 assists across the calendar year.

Only Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers managed to reach double figures, finishing with 10.

Odegaard, Rice, Guimaraes, Salah, Trossaard and others are outstanding creators in their own right but none operate on the same creative plane as Bruno Fernandes.
