AHEAD OF THE GAME: Braintree Town (H)

Woking vs Braintree Town

Enterprise National League

Tuesday 30th December 2025

19:45 Kick-Off

Woking’s last game of 2025 sees them host struggling Braintree Town with the aim to get back to winning ways after Boxing Day’s draw at Eastleigh.

The Cards dominated at the Silverlake but conceded late on to be left frustrated, whilst Josh Kelly went off injured. In his absence, there could be a start for Aiden O’Brien, Ashley Boatswain or Josh Osude, whilst there are selection dilemmas elsewhere, with need to rotate opening up opportunities for the likes of Tariq Hinds.

If there is one New Years’ Resolution for Woking, it’s to improve their home form, with just two league home wins this season. The visit of Braintree would be a good place to start.

Opposition Watch

One of the lowest budgets in the division means that Steve Pitt has to be extra careful with his signings, and Braintree being mired in a relegation scrap won’t surprise many. Last season’s miracle was mostly built around star man Kyrell Lisbie, who scored 17 in all competitions before departing for Peterborough in the summer.

An extremely small squad means that the Iron have little room to change up their team following defeat to 10 man Southend, in which former Card Lewis Walker started. He will hope to end a long run without a goal mostly owing to injury suffered early in the season.

With just a point separating Braintree from Aldershot in 21st and therefore the drop zone, a second away win of the season would be a welcome boost for the self styled ‘pub team from Essex’ as it looks to be a long hard dogfight at the bottom of the National League table.

One to Watch

Big striker John Akinde has plenty of EFL experience, but the 36-year-old has scored just twice this season. He’ll need an upturn in form to steer the Iron clear of the drop.
