50% duels & 9x possession lost: Amorim poised to drop £52m Man Utd star vs Aston Villa after 3/10 display - opinion

Manchester United played out a high-scoring 4-4 Premier League draw against Bournemouth on Monday.

The Red Devils had the opportunity to go within goal difference of fourth-placed Chelsea with a win over the Cherries, but were unable to do so.

United led at three different stages at Old Trafford last night, but the Cherries pegged them back, much to the frustration of the fans.

The defence was a major concern over the course of the game, and Leny Yoro in particular had a tough outing on the right side of the back three.

The 20-year-old Frenchman was reinstated in the starting XI for the first time since his horror show in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Yoro had another nervous outing and was caught out of position on multiple occasions in the first half. He should have intercepted the pass to Evanilson before the Cherries’ second goal rather than trying to play the offside trap.

Aside from this, the Lille graduate had a passing accuracy of only 75 percent. He won just 50 percent of his duels and lost possession on nine occasions in 69 minutes.

Yoro did make six clearances and two recoveries, but he was eventually replaced by Lisandro Martinez with the Red Devils trailing 3-2 to the Cherries last night. He received a 3/10 rating from our side.

In our view, the £52 million signing could be dropped again to the bench when the Red Devils take on a high-flying Aston Villa outfit away from home on Sunday.

Yoro has looked far from convincing against direct-running forwards. With Villa being one of the best attacking sides, manager Ruben Amorim could opt for Martinez over him in a different system.

The Portuguese tactician has recently trialled a 4-3-3 formation in training, and the set-up could come to fruition during the upcoming encounter against Unai Emery’s side at Villa Park.

It seems unlikely that Harry Maguire or Matthijs de Ligt will recover from their respective injuries.

It could be a back four of Diogo Dalot, Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw.
