Roma keen on taking £30m Tottenham man on loan for second half of season
There is a belief that a Tottenham loan remains a perfect fit for one forward struggling for game time, even with Thomas Frank stressing that there could still be a place for him within the squad.
Mathys Tel’s time at Tottenham Hotspur has been far from straightforward, with the winger yet to make a major impact on this Spurs side.
Gametime has been hard to come by for the young French forward since his permanent move in the summer window, with Tel starting just three games in the Premier League so far.
Earlier this week, Frank alluded to the idea that Tel’s gametime could increase after suggesting there remains an opportunity for the youngster out on the left.
AS Roma monitoring Mathys Tel situation at Tottenham
Tel’s situation, however, is being monitored by AS Roma, who remain interested in the Tottenham forward, according to RomaForever.
It is believed that a loan move is seen as ideal because the Serie A side will give the Tottenham player enough minutes to prove himself again.
Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini is a fan of the 20-year-old’s versatility as he can play upfront and out wide on the left, and the Italian wants a player of that type at a time when the his side is struggling to score consistently
Roma’s interest and Tottenham’s stance on Mathys Tel
At the moment, a deal is not believed to be underway, but it is claimed that Roma will act if any opportunity presents itself.
Frank’s recent comments could have an impact on this potential move for Roma, as it is believed that if Tel’s gametime does not increase at Tottenham, then the Italian club will attempt a loan, but should he receive more minutes, then he will stay put.
The youngster has been of interest to the Serie A side for weeks, and it remains to be seen whether Spurs eventually open the door for an exit.
