Europa League winner eyed by Leeds as Daniel Farke’s shocking record leaves him on the brink
Leeds United are reportedly eyeing candidates to replace the struggling Daniel Farke as manager, including former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou.
It’s been a difficult start to the season for Leeds, with Farke unable to build on a superb season for his team last term when they hit 100 points to earn promotion from the Championship.
Farke’s record in the top flight is really poor, and this is now leading Leeds to consider Postecoglou as an option to replace him, according to talkSPORT.
Daniel Farke’s Premier League record is a worry, but is Ange Postecoglou the answer?
As noted in talkSPORT’s report, Farke has a points tally of just 0.61 per game as a top flight manager, the worst record of any coach to take charge of at least 50 games in the competition.
Even if the German tactician has generally done well to get Leeds back into the Premier League, it doesn’t necessarily mean he’s the man to continue the job with them there.
The Yorkshire outfit are currently 18th in the league with a record of three wins, two draws, and seven defeats from their opening 12 matches.
Still, most Leeds fans would probably feel that Postecoglou also surely looks like a risky appointment after a mixed spell at Spurs.
The Australian tactician may have won the Europa League last season, but his Tottenham side also finished 17th in the Premier League, while he was also recently sacked after a very short spell in charge of Nottingham Forest.
Postecoglou lasted just eight games, drawing two and losing six of those, so it’s not clear if he’s really the upgrade Leeds are looking for.
Who else is in the frame for the Leeds job?
Another big name mentioned by talkSPORT is former Celtic and Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers.
The report states that he’d be keen on a return to the Premier League, and he’d probably be seen as a safer pair of hands.
The Northern Irish tactician has won trophies in two spells with Celtic, and also notably won the FA Cup final during his time at Leicester.
It will be interesting to see if any other options emerge for Leeds, but it certainly seems like Farke is going to be under huge pressure to improve quickly or the club will make a change.
