Patriots Place Will Campbell On IR, Sign Cornerback To Roster
The New England Patriots have officially placed star offensive tackle Will Campbell on injured reserve.
Campbell suffered a knee injury during New England’s Week 12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Following the game, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said Campbell’s injury isn’t likely to be a season-ending issue, but he will miss some time.
“He won’t be out there this week and it’s gonna be a couple weeks,” Vrabel said on Monday. “We’ll have to make a decision here on the roster to see how long that’ll be. But, it’s nothing that’s gonna hopefully put him out for the entire season.”
Now, on Wednesday, the Patriots placed Campbell on injured reserve, meaning he will miss the next four games due to the injury. In his spot, Vederian Lowe will start at left tackle.
With Campbell going on injured reserve, it created a spot on the Patriots’ 53-man roster, and New England signed cornerback Miles Battle to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.
Battle signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2024. The Chiefs released Battle after training camp, and he signed with the Patriots’ practice squad. Battle signed to the 53-man roster for the final game of the season.
Battle has recorded two tackles and three passes defensed in his NFL career.
New England also signed rookie cornerback Brandon Crossley to the practice squad to fill Battle’s spot.
The Patriots will host the New York Giants on Monday.
