Bruins’ Morgan Geekie Happy To Prove Doubters Wrong With Hot Start

Boston Bruins forward Morgan Geekie is happy his hot start can prove some doubters wrong.

Geekie entered the season with expectations of being one of Boston’s top offensive players. Yet, he’s off to an even better start than many thought, as he’s tied for the league lead in goals with 17.

However, many credit David Pastrnak for the success Geekie has had this season, but the Bruins star forward isn’t putting much thought into that.

“People think that I’m still a Pasta merchant,” Geekie said to Boston.com on Tuesday. “So it is what it is. I mean, that’s always gonna be the shtick when you score 30 goals with a good player like that. 

“But I know what I can do and the player that I’ve grown into. … I know that I can be a good player in this league, and then when people are, ‘Ah, he’s only good because (Pastrnak’s) good. He’s a world-class player, and everyone knows that. But it does take a good player to click with a great player.”

Geekie has five goals in his last three games as he’s having a stellar season. He’s been a key reason why the Bruins are off to a 13-11-0 start and holding onto a Wild Card spot.

The Bruins will return to the ice on Wednesday on the road against the New York Islanders.
