Jayson Tatum’s Odds Of Playing For Celtics This Season Turn Heads
After a bit of a slow start to the 2025-26 campaign, the Boston Celtics have rattled off three straight wins to push their record above .500. With the C’s looking more competent than expected, all eyes will remain on Jayson Tatum as he works his way back from a torn Achilles tendon.
Considering how Tatum suffered his aforementioned injury in the playoffs last season, the expectation was that he would miss the entire 2025-26 campaign. And yet, the door has remained slightly ajar, giving Tatum a shot at getting back on the court this year.
Through clips he’s shared on social media, Tatum has appeared to be well ahead of the curve when it comes to his injury rehab. If Boston can remain a competitive squad late into the season, that could increase Tatum’s odds of returning to action. Sure enough, Polymarket Sports believes there’s a 79% chance Tatum will play in at least one game this season.
The messaging surrounding a potential return for Tatum has been fairly consistent. Boston isn’t going to rush him back into action, but if he’s ready to return, and the team is still in playoff contention, a surprise return could be in the cards.
Tatum, for what it’s worth, is reportedly hoping to be able to play by either March or April this season. That is a very aggressive recovery timeline, but with each passing day, he seems to be making more and more serious progress towards getting back on the court.
At the end of the day, Tatum’s long-term health needs to be prioritized, and it will be. However, if he gets the green light from the team’s medical staff, and the C’s believe they could make some noise in the playoffs, it wouldn’t necessarily be a surprise to see him play at some point this season.
