10 duels won, 8 recoveries, 1 goal: £25m Man Utd star was brilliant on Int'l duty, Amorim will be pleased

Manchester United star Patrick Dorgu delivered an impressive performance during Denmark’s 4-2 World Cup qualifier loss to Scotland on the road.

The Danes needed to avoid a defeat to qualify for the World Cup and were on the cusp of doing so.

The visitors were level 2-2 in stoppage time, playing with 10 men, until Kieran Tierney unleashed a stunning curling effort beyond Kasper Schmeichel.

Kenny McLean put the game beyond Denmark’s sight in the dying seconds, scoring a wondergoal from halfway after spotting Schmeichel off his line.

Scotland have now qualified for their first World Cup since 1998, while Denmark will need to compete in the play-offs in March to progress.

Despite the loss, there were some positives for the Danes. United striker Rasmus Hojlund (out on loan) scored the equaliser at 1-1 from the penalty spot.

Dorgu replicated the feat to make it 2-2 in the 82nd minute, but Brian Riemer’s side could not hold on to the scoreline after late defensive mishaps.

In United’s point of view, manager Ruben Amorim will be pleased with Dorgu’s showing at left-back.

Aside from this goal, the 21-year-old had 104 touches with 47 successful passes. He won 10 duels, made eight recoveries alongside four clearances and three tackles.

It was a brilliant all-round performance from the £25 million star despite the defeat.

The United faithful will hope that Dorgu can replicate the performance from left wing-back as the club aim to climb up the Premier League standings during the festive schedule.

The Red Devils entertain Everton at Old Trafford in the league on Monday night.
