Former Patriots Wide Receiver Arrested For Attempted Murder

Things are going pretty well for the New England Patriots, as they are currently in the middle of a six-game win streak that has their record sitting at 7-2. The same cannot be said for one of their former players, Antonio Brown.

In 2019, Brown had a very brief stint with the Patriots, as he played in just one game, catching four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. After sexual and personal misconduct allegations were levied against him, though, the team opted to release him after that one game.

Since then, Brown has continually found himself in legal trouble, with the most recent issue seeing him have a warrant for his arrest regarding an attempted murder charge he faces. Back in May, Brown was accused of attempting to shoot someone with a handgun at a celebrity boxing event. Brown has maintained that he shot his gun in self-defense.

After this incident, Brown fell off the map, which led authorities on a months-long hunt for him. He ended up being found in Dubai, and he is now being returned to the United States, where he will be handed over to local police.

“(The) 37-year-old Brown was extradited this week, with United Arab Emirates authorities shipping the retired wideout back to the States from Dubai, where he was allegedly attempting to evade the reach of the American legal system,” TMZ Sports reported.

“We’re told Brown was accompanied by federal agents to the New York Metropolitan Area, where he was turned over to local police. He is scheduled to be sent back to South Florida, where the incident went down.”

As noted above, Brown has had his fair share of legal troubles before, but this is easily the most serious charge he has ever faced. As a result, it will be worth keeping tabs on his status now that he is in police custody.

As for the Patriots, they will be taking on another one of Brown’s former teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when they return to action in Week 10. Kickoff for this highly anticipated clash is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
