Man United monitoring record-breaking German wonderkid likened to Toni Kroos

0 2

According to German outlet Sport Bild, Manchester United scouts have been monitoring record-breaking Hertha Berlin defensive midfielder Kennet Eichhorn.

The 16-year-old has caught the eye with his performances for Hertha in the 2. Bundesliga this season and has been likened to Germany legend Toni Kroos.

He has made eight league appearances, playing as a defensive midfielder seven times and once in the central midfield role.

He only made his professional debut in August against Karlsruher SC, becoming the youngest-ever player to debut in the history of the German second division.

Club team-mate Fabian Reese claims he has ‘rarely seen anyone so talented at that age’ as Eichhorn, underlining his massive potential.

United scouts have watched the young German midfielder several times this season and the club could now be ready to secure his services.

However, the Red Devils face competition for Eichhorn. He has also attracted the interest of rivals Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and several other European heavyweights, all of whom have scouted him.

Hertha gave the teenager a new deal in the summer, but have placed a €20 million valuation (£17.6m at current rates) on him in the anticipation of a sale.

Eichhorn cannot join Man United until he is 18, but it will be worth the wait if the Mancunian giants can get the deal over the line.

He can continue his development at Hertha or move to a top-flight club to gather more experience — a step that could prepare him for first-team football at Man United.

It now remains to be seen how much the Mancunian giants will push to sign Eichhorn ahead of other suitors.
