Bruins Star Expected To Play Vs. Sabres After Surprising Family News
Boston Bruins star defenseman Hampus Lindholm missed Thursday’s morning skate before tonight’s home game against the Buffalo Sabres, but he had a very good reason for it.
According to Bruins head coach Marco Sturm, Lindholm and his fiancée, Amanda, welcomed a baby girl early Thursday morning. Sturm broke the news to the media during his pregame press conference on Thursday morning, adding that “everyone’s doing fine.”
Lindholm isn’t taking any time off, however, and is still expected to play on Thursday, according to Sturm.
The 31-year-old veteran has played only four games this season, but Boston’s won three of them. He missed eight games due to a lower-body injury that landed him on the injured reserve, but he returned to the ice on Tuesday and helped the Bruins beat the New York Islanders 5-2 at TD Garden.
Lindholm got his first point of the season in that game on an assist. He and Boston will look to build off Tuesday’s win against the Sabres, who are 4-4-2 and coming off back-to-back overtime losses to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets.
After playing just 17 games last year due to injuries, Lindholm is doing everything he can to stay in the lineup this season. The Bruins are just 2-6 without him this year, so he knows how much he means to their defense.
Lindholm may be a little sleep-deprived tonight, but that’s not going to stop him from getting back to work and trying to help his team win.
