Patriots Tackle Gives Injury Update Before Week 9 Vs. Falcons
One of the only negatives from the New England Patriots’ defense following the team’s Week 8 win against the Cleveland Browns was that defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga was limited due to a knee injury.
The “unsung” standout provided a positive update on his health on Monday, however.
“DT Khyiris Tonga, who played a season-low 17 snaps and was announced as questionable to return in the second half due to his knee, says today: ‘Everything is good. I just fell on it wrong, and it just felt a little weird. But everything is smooth now,'” ESPN’s Mike Reiss posted on Bluesky.
Tonga spent his 2021 rookie season with the Chicago Bears, two campaigns with the Minnesota Vikings (2022-23) and last year with the Arizona Cardinals before inking a one-year, $2.1 million contract with New England in March.
The BYU product has played in all eight games this fall, recording 14 tackles and one pass defended this season.
Tonga and the Patriots host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 on Sunday.
