Jaylen Brown Earns Major Honor From Boston Before New Season
The Boston Celtics are going to be leaning on Jaylen Brown more than ever heading into the 2025-26 campaign. As a result, the city of Boston let it be known just how important the superstar forward is to the city he represents on a nightly basis.
With Jayson Tatum still recovering from a torn Achilles tendon, Brown is going to be tasked with leading the Celtics as their de facto superstar for most of the season. It will be the first time in Brown’s career where he is the clear No. 1 option for Boston on offense.
Even before this season, though, Brown’s contributions to the city of Boston, both on and off the court, were hard to miss. Brown earned the 2024 NBA Finals MVP Award for his efforts in helping the C’s raise Banner 18, and he has continually found ways to give back to the local community when he isn’t working on perfecting his craft.
As the new season draws near, Brown’s importance to the Celtics has never been clearer. As a result, the city of Boston bestowed a major honor upon Brown on Monday, as it declared Oct. 24 as Jaylen Brown Day in Boston.
Brown earned the fourth All-Star collection of his career last season when he averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 46.3% from the field. With several key pieces departing over the offseason, though, those numbers figure to increase dramatically this upcoming campaign.
After helping the Celtics win the 2024 NBA Finals, Brown’s place in the franchise’s history was already secure. However, his place in Boston’s storied history is now secure as well, as this will surely become one of the city’s most popular days of the year moving forward.
