Aston Villa winners and losers from FPL Gameweek 8: scorers lead the way after Spurs win
After another dramatic weekend of Premier League action it’s time to throw off the shackles of reality and check in with our fantasy league.
Aston Villa secured another three points by virtue of a comeback win against Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester United beat Liverpool. A whole host of teams spurned or took the chance to briefly grab first place before Arsenal made it all academic anyway by winning in Saturday’s late game.
There was a hat-trick and the most selected player in Fantasy Premier League scored a couple to remain its highest scorer in 2025/26.
Let’s check in with the thrills and spills.
Top Aston Villa FPL scorers in GW8
There are no surprises this week. Villa’s top scorers in FPL were Morgan Rogers and Emi Buendía, the players who scored the goals in Sunday’s 2-1 win at Spurs.
They banked seven points apiece while Lucas Digne picked up five points thanks to a beautiful assist for the winning goal. Amadou Onana is the only other Villa player to have claimed more than two points.
That’ll be a small bonus for the 0.6% of FPL players who selected him for GW8 but the even smaller number of Buendía loyalists are the ones laughing into their sleeves this week.
Ezri Konsa remains Villa’s most selected player. He was in 9.6% of teams in GW8.

AVF FPL update GW8
The big news in our AVF league is that yours truly has moved into the top 50 thanks to a respectable GW8 score of 72.
The gap at the top has been trimmed by Warren Torch, who gained ground on leader Gary James. Gary’s team is the fifth-best team tied to Aston Villa in the entire game and 528th overall – amazing.
Abdelrhman Gooda moves into the top three thanks to the best gameweek score in the league by far. Erling Haaland, Nordi Mukiele and Jean-Philippe Mateta were responsible for the bulk of the points after a masterful deployment of the bench boost chip.
Adeseye Michael and Niall Relihan complete the top five but the top 11 in our league have all cracked 500 points.
James Brownrigg lost ground to the tune of two points at the bottom of the league.
